Make a Wormery (SEND session)

Thu 19 February 2026, 2pm - 3pm

Wakefield Museum

Get your hands dirty and dig into some fantastic facts about worms! Find out how they are garden heroes, making compost by turning scraps into soil.

Join our friends from Wakefield Recycles. Learn all about how nature recycles its own rubbish.

Meet some wiggly worms and make your own mini wormery experiment to take home!

Ages 3+

This is a SEND session. SEND families are welcome at all of our sessions but we are running this SEND session for those families who require a more relaxed atmosphere, with restricted numbers. A drop-in version of this activity is taking place on the same day 11am to 2pm.

Both sessions will take place in the Museum Learning Zone, inside Wakefield Library. Wakefield Library is on the Upper Ground Floor of the Wakefield One building.

This is part of our Worm Half Term! activities. 2025 marked 30 years since the video game Worms came on the market. Wakefield Museum has a new display to celebrate!  Visit Wakefield Museum this half term and take part in two days of wormy fun.
