This workshop is for home educated children aged 7+ and their families. Discover the real-life stories of some inspiring women from the Wakefield district who worked as nurses during the First World War.
As we examine Cynthia's paintings, we will:
investigate how nursing changed in the years between the First World War and the earlier Crimean War thanks to the campaigning of Florence Nightingale
consider what sorts of conditions WW1 nurses found themselves working in
examine some intriguing museum objects and photographs
create a craft inspired by the nursing-related artefacts to take home!
