Wakefield Museums and Castles

Workshop times:

This workshop is for home educated children aged 7+ and their families. Discover the real-life stories of some inspiring women from the Wakefield district who worked as nurses during the First World War.

As we examine Cynthia's paintings, we will:

• investigate how nursing changed in the years between the First World War and the earlier Crimean War thanks to the campaigning of Florence Nightingale

• consider what sorts of conditions WW1 nurses found themselves working in

• examine some intriguing museum objects and photographs

• create a craft inspired by the nursing-related artefacts to take home!
