This fun Home Education workshop is designed for children aged 5+. Join us to investigate the ‘snailman’, an intriguing little artefact found near Pontefract. It shows a medieval knight sitting within a snail’s shell balanced on top of a goat’s back!
In this workshop we will:
consider why these three creatures might have been combined to create this quirky object
search for clues that might help us to understand what the artefact was used for
investigate some other examples of snails in medieval art
design our own medieval-style soldier and snail creations
