Museum Store - Ossett

Workshop times:

  • Thursday 12 February, 10am to 12pm

  • Thursday 12 February, 1pm to 3pm

This is a very special hands-on session for home educated children aged 10+!

We will be visiting the Wakefield Museums and Castles Storage Facility in Ossett. Join us for some Stone Age-inspired experimental archaeology.

In the session, we will:

  • handle real Stone Age artefacts

  • identify how artefacts were made and used

  • get hands-on with flint knapping to make simple Stone Age style tools

  • put replica flints to the test to understand how effective these ancient tools were

Please note:

This workshop is strictly for children aged 10+. Please do not book children under the age of 10 on this session or bring additional children under the age of 10 to the session.

Places are very limited due the nature of the activities that participants will take part in. We therefore ask that only one adult accompanies each booked group to allow more places for children.

Safety equipment will be required for some of the activities such as thick gloves and goggles. These will be provided.
