How to get to Wakefield Museum

Wakefield Museum is near to Wakefield City Centre. It is inside the Wakefield One building, on the lower ground floor. It has step-free acces throughout.

Public transport

Wakefield Museum is 0.4 miles from Wakefield Bus Station. 

There are two train stations in Wakefield:

  • The museum is 0.1 miles from Wakefield Westgate station. This station is on the route between York / Leeds and London Kings Cross.
  • The museum is 0.9 miles from Wakefield Kirkgate station. This station is on the route between York / Leeds and Knottingley, Manchester Piccadilly and Nottingham.

There is also a free city bus connecting Wakefield Bus Station, Wakefield One and Wakefield Kirkgate station. This runs every 10 minutes.

By car and coach

Wakefield Museum is accessible from the M1 via Junction 40 along the A638 or Junction 41 along the A650. Use WF1 2EB in your sat nav.

Parking

The nearest car park can be found at Merchant Gate next to Wakefield Westgate train station. Use WF1 2QN in your sat nav. It is 90p per hour, up to a maximum of 5 hours. There are 45 disabled bays at Merchant Gate.
