Wakefield Museums and Castles

School workshops booking information

How to book

When you contact us to make a booking you will need to let us know:

  • Which workshop or resource you are interested in

  • Where you would like the workshop to take place – at one of our sites, in school, or virtually

  • Your preferred dates and timings (we cannot always accommodate your first choice of date so please have two or three potential dates in mind)

  • The number of pupils in your class

  • The year group

  • Any additional needs or sensitivities within your class

  • Any other information you think we should know before working with your pupils

Before contacting us, you may want to ask other teachers in your school if they would also like to book anything with us too. Booking multiple sessions at the same time can save your school money.

Once the details of your booking have been confirmed with museum staff you will be sent:

  • A booking form which you must sign and return

  • A teachers’ pack for your chosen workshop

  • Any additional resources required for delivery, dependent upon what you have booked

Workshop cancellation policy

If you need to rearrange or cancel for any reason you must do so by email as soon as possible.

If you reschedule your workshop within 2 weeks of the original delivery date to another day within the same term, then you will incur an additional charge of 25% of the cost of your booking.

If you cancel within 2 weeks of your workshop you will be charged 75% of the cost of your booking.

If you omit to cancel and you do not attend, you will be charged the full session fee.

This stands for any agreed booking, even if we have not received a signed booking form from you.

If a booking form has not been signed and returned two weeks before a requested delivery date, and the school has not contacted the Museums and Castles Team to amend the original booking request, then the booking will be assumed to be confirmed and the school will be liable for any related fees.
