You can register your interest in booking a loan box by using the form on this page.
Please read the following information before you do so.
Before contacting us please consider:
Which box interests you
Potential loan dates
Potential date for preliminary meeting (this must be completed before the start of the loan period)
Whether you would prefer the preliminary meeting to take place in school or online
We will need to know:
The number of classes and pupils that will be engaging with the loan box
The year group(s)
Topics you are studying
Any other requirements (i.e. suggestions for adapting loan box activities and content for SEND pupils)
Once you have booked, you will be sent the following documentation:
A booking form with confirmed dates that you must sign and return
A teachers’ pack for your chosen loan box
Additional loan box resources such as PowerPoint Presentations
Loan boxes must be collected from and returned to either of the following sites:
Wakefield Museum, Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB
or
Pontefract Museum, Salter Row, Pontefract, WF8 1BA
Loan boxes are lent out on a half termly basis at a charge of £80 each. Schools will be invoiced prior to the start of the loan.
An additional charge will be applied for any lost, damaged, or broken objects, to an amount of £20 per object. You must inform us of any loss, damage, or breakages immediately and complete a report form, sending it to us before the return of the loan box.
If you need to rearrange or cancel your booking for any reason you must do so by email as soon as possible.
If you rearrange your loan booking within 2 weeks of your original collection date you will incur an additional charge of 25% of the cost of your booking.
If you cancel within 2 weeks of your loan booking or omit to cancel and do not collect the loan box, you will be charged the full booking fee and incur an additional charge of 50%.
This stands for any agreed booking, even if we have not received a signed booking form from you.
If a booking form has not been signed and returned two weeks before a requested delivery date, and the school has not contacted the Museums and Castles Team to amend the original booking request, the booking will be assumed to be confirmed and the school will be liable for any related fees.
