  • Class teacher must check objects before and after use for damage and ensure all objects are packed safely
  • Responsibility for the loan boxes and objects lies with the named member of school staff (usually the person who makes the booking) during the agreed loan dates
  • Please advise us if a colleague other than named member of school staff is to pick up or drop off the loan boxes
  • Loan boxes must be transported directly between museum and school, they must not be taken to private homes or any other locations and must not be left in cars

Loan box charges

Loan boxes are lent out on a half termly basis at a charge of £80 each. Schools will be invoiced prior to the start of the loan.

An additional charge will be applied for any lost, damaged, or broken objects, to an amount of £20 per object. You must inform us of any loss, damage, or breakages immediately and complete a report form, sending it to us before the return of the loan box.

Loan box cancellation policy

If you need to rearrange or cancel your booking for any reason you must do so by email as soon as possible.

If you rearrange your loan booking within 2 weeks of your original collection date you will incur an additional charge of 25% of the cost of your booking.

If you cancel within 2 weeks of your loan booking or omit to cancel and do not collect the loan box, you will be charged the full booking fee and incur an additional charge of 50%.

This stands for any agreed booking, even if we have not received a signed booking form from you.

If a booking form has not been signed and returned two weeks before a requested delivery date, and the school has not contacted the Museums and Castles Team to amend the original booking request, the booking will be assumed to be confirmed and the school will be liable for any related fees.
