This official matchday magazine was for Castleford Tigers' game against St. Helens in May 1999. It was a home match at Castleford's Wheldon Road stadium.
The magazine is one of many from a Castleford fan's collection. He kept programmes from nearly 50 years of matches, spanning the club's ups and downs.
In 1999 Castleford played in the Super League, the top level of the English game. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the old First Division. Castleford was one of the 12 founding teams.
In the 1999 season, local rivals Wakefield Trinity joined the Super League after winning promotion.
It was a famous season for Castleford. They finished fifth to make the Play Offs. Unfortunately, they lost in the semi final to eventual Grand Final champions St Helens.
