Currently on display at Wakefield Museum in Cynthia Kenny: a city framed

A watercolour painting of the Wakefield cityscape as seen from a series of allotments

Cynthia Kenny often painted the iconic skyline of Wakefield. She painted city views from all angles. She placed the landmarks in different configurations.

This picture features the famous landmarks of the Town Hall, County Hall and Wakefield Cathedral. They share space with temporary allotment buildings and structures in Eastmoor.

"The approach to Wakefield, from several routes, reveals the dramatic architectural vision of the city skyline where Town Hall, County Hall and the magnificent spire of Wakefield Cathedral dominate, in close proximity to lesser buildings, silhouetted against a changing sky." - Cynthia Kenny, 2004

Painting digitally reproduced with the kind permission of the Cynthia Kenny estate.
