Inside of a rectangular metal tin with variety of Rowntree's sweets from the 1970s

Chocolate and sweet makers, Rowntree Mackintosh, had a factory in Castleford from 1970. Their sweet treats were exported to more than 100 countries around the world.

The company presented this souvenir gift tin to their employers in 1978 when they won the Queen's Award for Export Achievement. It was given to staff as a thank you for their hard work.

It contains a selection of products exported by the company. They include classic products and old favourites like Toffo, Glacier Fruits and the KitKat. Some of the products are labelled in other languages ready for export.
